Shooting Jacket
This is a right handed, made to measure shooting jacket for rifle use, which is constructed out of a combination of leather and canvas. As can be seen it is stiff enough to stand up quite well by itself without any additional support. The justification for having such supportive clothing for rifle, (but not pistol) shooting is medical. The strain and twisting put on the human body in having to adopt and maintain the necessary position for shooting, especially in the standing position, makes such additional aid necessary. The construction of this specialist clothing is very closely regulated and checked so as to prevent anyone obtaining an unfair advantage. See also the rear view and the trousers.
