.22 Thompson carbine
This is an example of a .22 rimfire
carbine equipped with both bipod and variable magnification telescopic sight. It can take
a 10 shot (or more magazine) and is accurate out to 100 yards, it can be used at greater
distances, but the effect of wind on the light (40 grain) bullet is considerable. For
distances beyond 200 yards, there may not be sufficient elevation adjustment on the scope
to cope with the bullet drop at such ranges. This gun has a heavy 'bull' barrel, which
resists the effects of heating on accuracy during rapid fire events.
