Percussion carbine action
This is a close-up of the action of a
.5 inch percussion Black Powder carbine with a set trigger, even though at first glance it
looks like an underlever cartridge gun. The idea of a set trigger is that the trigger
mechanism is 'set' by pulling on the (heavy) rear trigger and fired by the light forward
trigger. A carbine is defined as being either a shortened version of a rifle used
originally by mounted troops, or by a rifle type gun firing a pistol calibre cartridge.
