Harpers Ferry .58 calibre
Flintlock Pistol
Originally this model of gun
was ordered by the American government to equip the navy. Named after the village in the
State of Virginia where an armoury was built and destroyed during the Civil War. Flintlock
guns are not the most reliable of weapons aboard ship and the development and rapid
deployment of percussion guns led to their swift replacement. This particular gun is a
reproduction, made by Pedersolli and is 406mm long and weighs 1.13kg. Even though is is a
relatively large calibre, the recoil is not excessive, due mainly to its weight.
