BSA Martini-International Mk II
These guns were made by the Birmingham Small Arms
(BSA) company over many years and went through numerous modifications and Mark numbers. This gun
has a tunnel foresight (used to improve contrast and thus assist sighting,
particularly outdoors). All these guns were underlever operated and are characterised by
having very powerful ejectors that can throw the extracted case a considerable distance.
The mechanism is very easy to strip, being held in the gun by the single hand screw
slightly above and forward of the trigger unit. The forward rest on which the gun is
standing is not allowed for use when doing international competition shooting, but popular
with club shooters as it helps to keep the gun 'tidy' when on the range. Compare this gun
with a bolt action model.
